Fun with Food Friday!

Holiday weekends are meant for barbecue!

Caramel-Nut Lime Chicken

Ingredients:

* 6-10 pieces Squirrel Nut Zippers http://bit.ly/lun5wt
* 6 tablespoons soy sauce
*5 tablespoons Lime Juice
*4-5 boneless chicken breasts

Preparation:

Place Squirrel Nut Zippers in a small microwave safe bowl. Microwave 10-20 seconds until candy is softened. Spray a medium sized skillet with a non-stick cooking spray, turn on medium flame. Heat candy, soy sauce, and lime juice stirring constantly until candy is dissolved and sauce has a honey like consistency.
Put in bowl and allow to cool to room temperature.
Place chicken in container and cover with glaze. Refrigerate for 20-30 minutes stirring occasionally. If using a gas grill light flame on only one side. If using charcoal, light charcoal only on one side. Place chicken on non heated side and cook 25-10 minutes until done.

Memories

Isn't it funny how and certain smell or taste can bring back a memory? The other day my sweet coworker brought me a Fun Dip packet. From the first bite, memories came flooding back. Of sleepovers with my elementary school best friend (we pretended to be sisters lol), of the ice cream man outside my house during the summer, of fighting with my brother over the last sugary stick. Those were the days 'eh? I guess that's all life is, a series of memories. Some good, some bad. In the end its those moments that shape us into who we are. Next time you find yourself opening a long forgotten wrapper, take a minute to savor not only the sugary sweetness, but the memories they invoke.

Looking to the sweeter side...

Lately it seems on every social networking site, all you see is negativity. Phrases like FML and FAIL are more commonly used than LOL and OMG. Which leaves me to deduct that more people are crying than laughing over the proverbial spilled milk in their lives. We at Candy Crate, make our living promoting the sweet life. We encourage patrons to see the sweetness in their day to day life. With that said, we issue this challenge: Whenever you catch yourself posting FML status update, change it to a MSL (My Sweet Life) one. Got a flat tire on the way to work? Instead of saying "Late for work because I got a flat tire FML," post "Got to have a little 'me' time this morning on the side of the road, MSL." You'll be amazed at how far a little positivity goes!

Have a sweet day!
