Salt water taffy has been around since the late 19th century. A candy store owner had his shop flooded with Atlantic salt water during a storm in 1883 and when a young girl came in looking for a treat, the store owner teased and offered her some "salt water taffy". The girl was thrilled and showed it to her mom and friends and, alas, a new confection called Salt water taffy was created. Salt water taffy, especially in these flavors is a summer must have!
